38 TEAM LinG CHAPTER 6 ACTION TEAM LinG THE FOCAL EASY GUIDE TO DVD STUDIO PRO 3 Making Your First DVD Okay, we’re going to do it. Now we make a DVD. Let’s run through the process before we start. There are three fundamental steps: 1 Import the content you need into DVD Studio Pro. 2 Choose a Template. 3 Create a Track which will play the video when selected. Now this is going to be a very basic DVD. All it will do is present the viewer with a single menu of which they have a single choice which is to play the Track.
4 Import the Assets into DVD Studio Pro. 5 Select a Menu by double clicking the icon of your choice. 6 Highlight and delete the Tracks that are not required. 7 Using the Type Functions in DVD Studio Pro, retype and format the existing text to meet your requirements. 8 9 Drag any Still or Motion assets into Drop Zones. Connect Tracks to Buttons by dragging Assets from the Palette to the Buttons in the Menu Editor. 10 Simulate the DVD and check if it works. 11 Burn! The following pages are examples of simple menus created using nothing other than the Templates supplied with DVD Studio Pro.
But before we burn it, and waste time and money if it’s not right, we will go to a device called the Simulator. The Simulator is like having a virtual DVD player built into DVD Studio Pro so you can check out how well your disk works. 1 Press the Simulator button located top left. If all is well the Simulator window will open a window with a black screen. After a short pause you will see the DVD menu you have been working with. 2 Press the Play Movie button on the menu which you created earlier.
